CFD Simulation & Optimization of Aircraft Mock-up Cocoon Cooling/Heating System layout
 

System Definition: 

The external environment of aircraft mock-up is ensured by the cocoon ventilation system. Cold or hot air, depending on the desired exterior environmental condition, circulates in the cocoon air circuit using an appropriate ventilator. Before entering the cocoon (cladding around the aircraft mock-up), the desired cocoon air temperature is established after passing through a heat exchanger for cold conditions or through a heater for hot conditions.


Tasks:

  • Analyse different cocoon cooling/heating flow configurations for the acclimatisation of an aircraft mock-up exterior environment
  • Investigation of flow distribution in the cocoon for the top-bottom and the bottom-top cocoon supply configurations
  • Assess the uniformity of the aircraft mock-up skin temperature distribution and allow for an estimation of the heat flow balance of the cocoon ventilation system
  • Parametric study for each configuration
  • Perform optimization of system layout based on the simulation results


Voraussetzungen

Our Expectations:
Good knowledge of computational fluid dynamics, advanced knowledge of Ansys-Fluent.
