Analysis of flexible use of cargo space through modularity using Versatile Container Elements (VCE)


Innovation & Objectives: 

To use the aircraft space with higher flexibility, depending on the mission the conventional cargo containers can be replaced by versatile container elements, providing additional office space, economy seating, intimacy areas, medical areas or room for special cultural activities.


  • Development of VCE model of different configuration (office suite, quite zone, etc.) in combination with apt ventilation strategy for integration to the aircraft cargo bay model.
  • Investigation of interior layouts and ventilation by simulation.
  • Identification of sensitive parameters for different thermal and ventilation configurations.
  • Parametric study for each configuration.
  • Perform iterative optimization of system layout based on the simulation results. Visualization of results and documentation.
  • Perform impact analysis of air tightness of VCE.
  • Provide the design for the construction of the VCE demonstrators based on simulation study, Approach different scenarios: office suite, quite zone, etc.


Was Sie mitbringen:

Good knowledge of indoor environment ventilation and heat transfer, basic knowledge of Modelica/Dymola desired.

Remuneration according to the general works agreement for employing assistant staff.
